Moldova transport and customs modernization
Overview
Moldova is advancing efforts to modernize its customs and transport infrastructure to support European integration and regional logistics. Initial discussions between the Moldovan Customs Service and IDEP Moldova focused on digitalizing customs procedures, aligning IT systems with the European Union, and improving border-crossing infrastructure at the Moldova-Romania frontier to facilitate trade.
Cooperation has since expanded to include bilateral efforts with Ukraine. Recent meetings between Ukrainian and Moldovan officials addressed the development of transport connections, such as the Cosăuți-Iampol road bridge, and the management of logistics corridors. These discussions also covered the transit of Ukrainian goods through Moldova and the necessity of preventing the use of Moldovan transport mechanisms to bypass international sanctions.
