Moldovan emergency services issue heating season safety warnings
The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) has issued safety recommendations ahead of the upcoming heating season to prevent fires and carbon monoxide poisoning. Officials urge citizens to inspect stoves for cracks and ensure they are properly cleaned before use.
Safety guidelines include avoiding the use of flammable liquids to start fires and keeping combustible objects or furniture away from heating units. Authorities also advise against drying clothes on stoves and emphasize the need to supervise fires, especially at night. To prevent carbon monoxide intoxication, residents are encouraged to use ventilation channels and regularly aerate rooms. In the event of symptoms such as dizziness or vomiting, individuals should be moved to fresh air immediately and medical assistance should be sought.
