Moldova receives 157 million euro EU tranche following reform progress

The European Commission has released a 157 million euro tranche to Moldova as part of the EU Growth Plan, marking the third installment of the program. This funding follows Moldova's successful implementation of approximately 95% of its scheduled reform measures, covering sectors such as the economy, energy, and good governance. The total value of the Growth Plan for the 2025–2027 period is 1.9 billion euros, with a cumulative 661 million euros made available to the country so far.

Prime Minister Vasile Tofan stated that the funds will support critical investments in transport, energy, water, sanitation, health, and education. He also noted that economic integration is yielding results, with Moldovan exports to the EU increasing by over 10% in the first half of the year, totaling approximately 1.3 billion euros.

In addition to economic support, the EU is bolstering Moldova's security. Support through the European Peace Facility has reached 317 million euros, making Moldova the second-largest beneficiary globally. EU officials, including High Representative Kaja Kallas, announced that 120 million euros will be specifically allocated for Moldova's anti-aircraft defense in 2026. Kallas also addressed regional security, condemning Russian missile and drone incursions into Moldovan airspace and asserting that the Transnistrian region will not obstruct Moldova's European path.
