Moldovan parliamentary delegation visits Turkmenistan to boost cooperation

A parliamentary delegation from the Republic of Moldova, led by Petru Burduja, is conducting a working visit to Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, from September 13 to 17, 2026. This marks the first visit by parliamentary friendship groups since diplomatic relations were established between the two nations.

During the visit, the delegation is scheduled to meet with the President of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, Dunyagozel Gulmanova, as well as representatives from Turkmenistan’s ministries of foreign affairs, finance and economy, and agriculture. Discussions focus on strengthening interparliamentary relations and legislative exchange.

Moldova has expressed interest in expanding cooperation across several sectors, including trade, investment, agriculture, energy, tourism, and humanitarian aid. Specific economic goals include identifying new opportunities for cooperation and increasing imports of mineral fertilizers from Turkmenistan.
