Romanian fuel prices surge to record highs amid Middle East tensions

Diesel prices in Romania have risen to about 10 lei per litre and gasoline to over 9 lei, after several distributors increased prices by up to 14 bani per litre. Analysts warn that further hikes are possible if regional tensions and international oil prices continue to climb.

In Moldova, the energy regulator ANRE added 51 bani to the price of a litre of diesel, and the transport authority ANTA raised the maximum tariff for international bus routes, reflecting the spill‑over of higher fuel costs.

Hungary also reported a modest increase, with the wholesale price of 95‑octane gasoline rising by 8 forints per litre and diesel by 9 forints, following the removal of its previously protected fuel‑price regime.
