Moldova’s Supreme Council of Magistracy opens judge recruitment contests and launches national dialogue on the judiciary

The Consiliul Superior al Magistraturii (CSM) announced competitive examinations to fill multiple vacant judge positions at the Curtea Supremă de Justiție and at the Curțile de Apel (Center, North and South). Applications must be submitted by 24 August 2026, either in person or electronically with a digital signature. Eligible candidates include current judges, lawyers, prosecutors and university law professors; for appellate courts candidates must have at least four years of judicial experience. Required documents comprise a signed application, curriculum vitae, personal motivation statement and, where applicable, a medical certificate, criminal record, asset declaration and proof of recent training.

In parallel, CSM launched a national dialogue aimed at improving the attractiveness of the judging profession. Officials emphasized that the discussion is not about judges’ personal comfort but about ensuring every citizen’s right to a professional and independent justice system.
