Romania highway projects reach advanced stages of completion
Major infrastructure projects across Romania are nearing completion, with significant progress reported on the A3 Transylvania Motorway and the A7 Bacău–Pașcani section.
On the A3 motorway, several sections are targeting late 2026 openings. The Suplacu de Barcău–Chiribiș segment is over 90% complete, with officials aiming to open it by December 1 to coincide with Romania’s National Day. Similarly, the Biharia–Chiribiș section is in a race against time to open by December, with asphalt coverage reaching 90%. In the Nădășelu–Zimbor area, works have reached 99.2% completion; once the Topa Mică and Nădășelu viaducts are finished, drivers will have a continuous 155 km stretch between Poarta Sălajului and Târgu Mureș.
On the A7 motorway, the Bacău–Pașcani section shows high mobilization with approximately 5,500 workers. The first two lots have exceeded 70% physical progress and are expected to be ready for traffic by the end of the year.
Additionally, the Comarnic bypass on the DN1 has officially opened to traffic. Despite its inauguration, initial reports indicate congestion during peak hours due to the single-lane configuration per direction.
