Molise healthcare faces management failures and service delays
Regional Councilor Angelo Primiani has criticized the management of the healthcare system in Molise, stating that the region is not on a path to recovery. According to a ministerial monitoring report, the healthcare structure is struggling with delays, missing documentation, and essential services that exist only on paper.
A major concern involves the Stroke Network. The activation of neuroradiology and interventional radiology at the Cardarelli hospital in Campobasso is not expected until June 2027, with the recruitment of specialized staff potentially delayed until 2028. Primiani noted that the commissioner structure has failed to meet deadlines set by Rome, risking years of delays for a complete public Stroke Unit.
Additionally, the Ministry has raised questions regarding patient access to Neuromed. While previous decrees suggested patients could access the facility via self-diagnosis, the Ministry has expressed doubts about how patients can access the center without a functioning emergency room. Commissioners have reported that no patients have accessed Neuromed autonomously in the last ten months.
