Molise leaders protest reallocation of 19 million euros in European funds
Leaders from Uncem are raising concerns regarding the reprogramming of European funds (FESR-FSE+ 2021-2027) in the Molise region. Specifically, a proposal to reallocate 19.084 million euros originally intended for internal and mountain area territorial strategies toward other purposes, such as the Termoli Customs Free Zone, has sparked criticism.
Candido Paglione, president of Uncem Molise, and Marco Bussone, national president of Uncem, have issued a joint statement requesting the protection of resources assigned to these fragile territories. They argue that internal areas should not serve as a financial buffer for other regions and emphasize that such reallocations could hinder efforts to combat depopulation and provide essential services and infrastructure to mountain communities.
