Monaco Grand Prix 2026: Kimi Antonelli secures pole and leads race to victory

Nineteen‑year‑old Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli claimed pole position for the 2026 Monaco Grand Prix, edging Max Verstappen by 0.043 seconds. In the race, Antonelli set the fastest pace and kept the lead to finish first, ahead of Lewis Hamilton (Ferrari) and French rookie Isack Hadjar (Red Bull) who was later investigated by race officials.

Antonelli’s win extended his championship lead to 66 points over Hamilton and 68 points over teammate George Russell (Mercedes). Max Verstappen, who had started second on the grid, retired on the opening lap with a mechanical failure. Charles Leclerc crashed with a brake problem twelve laps from the finish. Pierre Gasly received two five‑second penalties for speeding in the pit lane, dropping him from third on the line to seventh. Other top‑ten finishers included Oscar Piastri (McLaren), Liam Lawson, Arvid Lindblad, Alex Albon, Esteban Ocon and Sergio Pérez, who earned the first point for Cadillac in Formula 1.
