Monaco to implement exclusive +377 mobile numbering by 2026

Monaco is transitioning to an exclusively Monegasque mobile numbering system. Starting October 1, 2026, all new mobile numbers assigned in the Principality will use the international dialing code +377.

This change follows agreements between the Princely Government’s Direction des Plateformes et des Ressources Numériques and Arcep, the French telecommunications regulator. Since 1993, Monaco’s mobile numbering has been linked to the French system, utilizing ten-digit numbers beginning with 06. While Monaco obtained its own international code (+377) in 1996, Monaco Telecom numbers have historically coexisted under both +33 and +377.

Under the new plan, new individual and business customers subscribing to Monaco Telecom will receive an eight-digit number preceded by +377, following the format +377 377 xx xxx. Existing customers with 06 numbers will retain them without needing to take any action. The evolution is intended to strengthen electronic communication security, specifically in combating number spoofing and certain types of telephone fraud.
