Monaco ranked as best country to live in for 2026

Monaco has been ranked as the best country in the world to live in for 2026 according to the Nomad Lifestyle Index. The index, produced by Nomad Capitalist, evaluated 63 destinations based on five key pillars: nature and climate, taxation, residence and access, safety and freedom, and quality of life and infrastructure.

Monaco secured the top position with a score of 73.89, notably achieving a perfect 100 in the quality of life and infrastructure category. Andorra followed in second place, distinguished by its high marks in safety, freedom, and air quality, though its ranking was impacted by strict citizenship requirements. The United Arab Emirates placed third, completing a very tight top three separated by only 0.74 points.

The top ten list is dominated by Europe, with six of the ten highest-ranking destinations located on the continent. Other European countries appearing in the top ten include Malta, Portugal, Cyprus, and Switzerland. The assessment considered various indicators including broadband speed, cost of living, life expectancy, and the Global Peace Index.
