Overview

Monaco has been ranked as the best country to live in for 2026 according to the Nomad Lifestyle Index, a study conducted by Nomad Capitalist. The index evaluated 63 destinations based on five pillars: nature and climate, taxation, residence and access, safety and freedom, and quality of life and infrastructure.

Monaco secured the top position with a score of 73.89, notably achieving a perfect 100 in the quality of life and infrastructure category. The top three rankings were closely contested, with only a 0.74-point difference separating Monaco, Andorra, and the United Arab Emirates. The assessment incorporated various indicators such as broadband speed, cost of living, life expectancy, and the Global Peace Index. While the top ten list is dominated by European destinations, including Malta, Portugal, Cyprus, and Switzerland, the index also accounted for factors like air quality and the ease of obtaining citizenship.
