Caracas suffers fatalities and flooding from heavy tropical rains FAST-MOVING

Heavy rainfall triggered by a tropical wave has caused significant destruction across Caracas and surrounding regions in Venezuela. Authorities, including the Caracas Fire Department, confirmed at least three deaths: two minors swept away by currents in the La Vega parish and a 49-year-old woman in the Macarao parish after a rockfall collapsed her home.

The storms caused widespread flooding, including the overflow of the Guaire River, and led to the preventive evacuation of 12 families in La Pastora due to soil instability. In Petare, a wall collapse flooded approximately 30 properties. In La Guaira, heavy rains damaged temporary shelters used by families displaced by the June 24 earthquakes.

This weather emergency follows a major seismic event on June 24, which left a death toll of 6,438 and thousands displaced. The Venezuelan government is currently managing both crises, with officials announcing housing construction plans and a national training program for construction workers to aid in the country's recovery efforts.
