Moncton teens arrested after viral car surfing video
Three teenagers have been arrested and charged in southeastern New Brunswick following a viral video showing ‘car surfing’ on a moving vehicle. The RCMP reported receiving multiple complaints on Sunday regarding a boy sitting on the roof of a car traveling on Vaughan Harvey Boulevard in Moncton.
Police determined that the vehicle involved in the video had been reported stolen. The suspects, identified as a 16-year-old boy, a 16-year-old girl, and a 14-year-old boy, are also suspected of involvement in several break-ins and thefts from both residences and businesses.
Pamela Fuselli, CEO of the injury prevention charity Parachute, expressed concern that the incident could encourage copycat behavior on social media. She noted that while such incidents are not frequent, they are extremely dangerous and can be fatal.
