As Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo marks his 56th birthday, his administration’s focus on the education sector has become a primary metric of his governance. Since taking office in November 2024, Okpebholo has treated education as a state of emergency, prioritizing infrastructure, teacher welfare, and access.

Key initiatives include the construction of over 100 schools within the first year and the rehabilitation of numerous existing institutions across the state’s three senatorial districts. To support the teaching workforce, the governor approved promotion letters for 8,476 primary and junior secondary school teachers in February 2025, addressing career progression delays from 2022 to early 2024.
