Mone Kamishiraishi to star in new TBS time-slip drama
Actress Mone Kamishiraishi will star in the new TBS Tuesday drama ‘Iroha no Koi wa Toki wo Kakeru’, set to premiere in October. The romantic comedy follows a 300-year time-slip plot where the soul of Iroha, a spirited daughter of a messenger in the mid-Edo period, inhabits the body of Iroha Nashiki, a modern-day elementary school teacher in the Reiwa era.
Kamishiraishi will perform a dual role, portraying both the assertive Edo-period woman and the timid, pressured modern teacher. Koji Mukai, a member of the group Snow Man, will co-star as Ikuru Ichinose, a fellow teacher who discovers Iroha’s secret and eventually falls in love with her. The series is written by Ikumi Osada, known for her work on the NHK morning drama ‘Ranman’.
Mukai noted that playing a teacher is a significant new challenge for him, while Kamishiraishi expressed her desire to deliver a story that conveys gratitude and respect toward educators.
