Poland's RPP maintains interest rates at 3.75% amid rising inflation

The Monetary Policy Council (RPP) has decided to maintain Poland's interest rates at their current levels. The key reference rate remains at 3.75%, the lombard rate at 4.25%, and the deposit rate at 3.25%.

This decision follows a rise in consumer inflation, which reached 4.0% year-on-year in September, according to data from the Central Statistical Office (GUS). This figure exceeds the National Bank of Poland's (NBP) target range of 2.5% with a 1% deviation margin.

While the immediate decision provides stability for current borrowers, market analysts suggest that future rate hikes may be necessary. Financial markets are already pricing in potential increases, and fixed-rate mortgage interest rates have risen to approximately 6.4%. Additionally, the return of the CPN fuel price program is expected to temporarily lower inflation by reducing fuel costs by an estimated 14–18%.
