Monsefú baker creates edible Vatican replica from bread dough

A master baker in the Monsefú district of Lambayeque, Peru, has crafted a three-dimensional edible replica of St. Peter's Basilica and St. Peter's Square. The sculpture was created using 8 kilograms of fermented bread dough to honor the upcoming pastoral visit of Pope Leo XIV to the country.

The artwork, created by baker Víctor Pitfil and a family member, took one week to assemble. Each component was individually molded and baked before being joined to form the final structure, which measures approximately 1 meter long, 1 meter wide, and 85 centimeters high. The piece includes intricate details such as the main columns and the papal coat of arms.

The initiative serves as a tribute to the Pope, who previously served as the bishop of Chiclayo. Following the success of this piece, Pitfil announced plans to create a larger-scale sculpture to be exhibited in the city of Chiclayo as part of the preparations for the papal visit.
