Pope Leo XIV upcoming apostolic journey

Overview

Preparations are underway across South America for the upcoming pastoral visit of Pope Leo XIV. In Uruguay, artisanal bakeries have introduced ‘Pan de León XIV’, a symbolic bread incorporating ingredients representing the Pope’s personal history, including rye from Chicago and grains from Peru. The Vatican confirmed the Pope’s journey will begin in Uruguay from November 6 to 8, before he travels to Argentina and Peru through November 16.

In Peru, tributes are also being prepared. A baker in the Monsefú district of Lambayeque created a large-scale, three-dimensional edible replica of St. Peter’s Basilica and St. Peter’s Square using eight kilograms of fermented bread dough. This sculpture serves as a tribute to the Pope, who previously served as the bishop of Chiclayo.
