Monsoon Floods Disrupt Roads in Rajasthan and Uttarakhand, India

Heavy monsoon rains on Sunday evening caused widespread flooding in western Rajasthan. In Barmer, roads were submerged and the main thoroughfare in front of the district collectorate was under water, while the Sedwa‑Deepla road and other highways in Barmer and Jaisalmer districts were damaged, cutting off access to about ten villages. The Govindgarh Dam in Ajmer district overflowed, prompting officials to advise residents to stay away from the reservoir area.

In Uttarakhand's Uttarkashi district, continuous downpours triggered landslides that blocked the Yamunotri and Gangotri national highways with rocks and debris, halting pilgrim traffic on the Char Dham route. A footpath to the Yamunotri shrine collapsed, and authorities are preparing an alternate trail. State disaster teams and the National Highway Authority are working to clear the debris and restore connectivity.
