Monsoon landslides block major Nepal highways and disrupt transport
Heavy monsoon rains across central Nepal triggered landslides and flooding that obstructed several key road arteries. The Nepal Police reported that the Araniko Highway at Jirokilo and Kodari, the Mechi Highway in Ilam Municipality‑9, the Lamosanghu‑Ramechhap road, the Pasang Lhyamu Highway in Rasuwa, the Kanti Highway in Lalitpur, the Bhimphedi‑Kulekhani‑Kathmandu road, the Jajarkot‑Dolpa road and the Beni‑Jomsom road were all either completely blocked or partially obstructed.
Vehicular movement was halted or restricted, especially at night, on the affected sections. The police bulletin warned of muddy roads, inundated river crossings and dry landslides that made travel unsafe, leaving many districts without reliable road access.
