Monsoon rains and heat wave impact large parts of Nepal

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology reported that the monsoon currently influences the entire areas of Koshi, Madhesh and Bagmati provinces, parts of Gandaki and the eastern Lumbini Province, while western and central Terai regions experience a severe heat wave. Temperatures in the western Terai are forecast to reach 38‑41 °C, prompting health warnings for children, the elderly and those with chronic illnesses. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is expected in some hilly and Himalayan zones and in the Kathmandu Valley. Residents have been advised to stay hydrated, avoid unnecessary outdoor activity in the afternoon and wear light cotton clothing.
