Monsoon rains cause flooding in Surat and deadly flash floods in Nagaland, India

Heavy monsoon rain in Surat on Sunday morning produced more than two inches of precipitation, flooding low‑lying areas, submerging roads near the Udhan railway station and causing severe traffic disruptions. Local officials said drainage problems have worsened the situation and cleanup efforts are underway.

In Nagaland's Mon district, continuous rain triggered flash floods and landslides that killed at least three people and left several others possibly buried under debris. Rescue teams from the state disaster management authority, police, and the Assam Rifles continue search‑and‑rescue operations, while the state government has expressed condolences and is coordinating relief for affected families.
