The Mexican monsoon is intensifying severe weather across western Mexico. The Servicio Meteorológico Nacional warned that Nayarit will experience strong, localized downpours, lightning, and possible landslides on Thursday, August 6, with wind gusts around 35 km/h. In Sonora, MeteoAlert noted a very low but non‑zero tornado risk and highlighted the potential for destructive thunderstorms, large hail and wind speeds exceeding 130 km/h, especially in the northern municipalities.

The Coordinación Estatal de Protección Civil (CEPC) forecast heavy rain in the Sierra region, expecting 50‑75 mm of precipitation and winds up to 55 km/h, which could cause flash flooding, mudslides and reduced visibility. For the state capital Hermosillo, the probability of rain remains low at about 25 % during the night, with most convective activity expected further north.

Authorities advise residents to stay alert to official warnings, avoid crossing swollen streams, and exercise caution while driving.
