Monster Hunter franchise titles showcased at Tokyo Game Show 2026
At Tokyo Game Show 2026, new details were revealed regarding upcoming titles in the Monster Hunter franchise.
Monster Hunter Wilds: Frost & Beyond (凌越) is slated for a 2027 release. The expansion introduces the Sky Ruins map, featuring floating platforms connected by vines, and the new monster species known as the Jet-Burst Bird, which exhibits highly social, coordinated group behaviors. The expansion also features the return of the Elder Dragon Teostra and a new combat mechanic called the Augmentation System, which utilizes an augmentation gauge to allow players to actively create openings during battle. Additionally, a version for the Switch 2 is expected on December 4, supporting both handheld and docked modes.
Monster Hunter Outlanders, a mobile title developed by TiMi Studio Group under license from Capcom, was also showcased. The game features two distinct playstyles: a simplified “Starting Mode” using three buttons for accessible combat, and a “Hunting Mode” that offers complex, manual combo construction for experienced players. Combat involves managing character types—such as DPS, debuff, and support—and utilizing special ultimate moves to turn the tide of battle against Elder Dragons like the original Luga Aerda.
