Monster Hunter franchise developments at TGS 2026

During the Tokyo Game Show 2026, Capcom provided updates on several upcoming titles within the Monster Hunter franchise.

Initial details focused on the expansion Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, scheduled for 2027. Developers described the expansion as a “legitimate evolution” of the base game, introducing the “Boost Bracer” for enhanced weapon abilities, a “Master Rank” for increased difficulty, and the Skybound Eyrie environment. Featured monsters included the new Araketa alongside returning species like Teostra, Khezu, and Kushala Daora.

Subsequent information expanded on the franchise's roadmap, detailing Monster Hunter Wilds: Frost & Beyond (凌越), also set for a 2027 release. This expansion includes the Sky Ruins map, the social Jet-Burst Bird species, and an “Augmentation System” combat mechanic. A version for Nintendo Switch 2 is expected on December 4.

Additionally, Capcom showcased Monster Hunter Outlanders, a mobile title developed by TiMi Studio Group. The mobile game offers two playstyles: a simplified “Starting Mode” and a more complex “Hunting Mode” involving manual combo construction and character role management against Elder Dragons.
