Monster Hunter Wilds confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2 release

Monster Hunter Wilds is confirmed for release on Nintendo Switch 2 on December 4. The action-RPG features 14 weapon types and will include all content from title updates, such as the Grand Hub, the return of the Lagiacrus monster, and a collaboration with FINAL FANTASY XIV Online.

The Nintendo Switch 2 version will support local wireless, online play, and cross-play with other platforms. Players can choose between a Standard Edition, a Gold Edition with cosmetic DLC, or a physical Deluxe Edition. Digital pre-orders begin October 19, with a discount available for early purchasers through December 3, 2026. A free Prologue demo will be released prior to launch.

A major expansion titled ‘Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance’ is scheduled for 2027 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. Recent footage for the expansion highlights new accelerated actions for the Heavy Bowgun, including the ‘Boosted Compression Cannon’ and enhanced stability mechanics.
