Monte Carlo Rally set to open 2027 WRC season

The 95th edition of the Monte Carlo Rally is scheduled to take place from January 21 to 24, 2027. As the traditional season opener for the World Rally Championship (WRC), the event will be held across the South Alps and the Côte d’Azur.

Organizers have revealed a revised route that increases the total distance of special stages to over 353 kilometers, up from approximately 330 kilometers in previous years. The competition will feature a Thursday opening with three special stages, including the long Col de Bleine–Aiglun stage. The itinerary also includes a Power Stage on Sunday passing over the Col de Turini.

The 2027 season arrives amid uncertainty regarding the full WRC calendar and technical evolutions for the new season. The event remains a critical test for drivers due to unpredictable weather conditions, including rain, snow, and ice, which can occur simultaneously within a single stage.
