Monte la Reina military barracks project advances in Zamora

Spanish Defense Minister Margarita Robles visited the construction site of the new Monte la Reina military barracks in Toro, Zamora, to inspect progress on the facility. The project, spanning over 1,235 hectares, is expected to be operationally complete by 2027. Once finished, the base is projected to bring approximately 1,400 military personnel and their families to the region, providing a demographic and economic boost to the province of Zamora and the Castilla y León community.

During the visit, Robles also addressed political questions regarding the government's handling of the recent migration crisis in Ceuta. She defended the unity of the government and rejected claims of internal discrepancies following the release of National Intelligence Center (CNI) reports. Robles described the scale of the mass migration event in Ceuta as “imprevisible” (unpredictable) and maintained that all departments performed their duties as required.
