Activists and Voli company clash over Spuž pig farm incident

A confrontation occurred at the ‘Naša farma’ pig farm in Spuž, Danilovgrad, involving environmental activists Aleksandar Dragićević and Vuk Iković and employees of the Voli company. The company reported that the activists forcibly entered the property by cutting a protective fence with tools, potentially compromising biosecurity measures. Voli has requested legal action against the individuals for unauthorized entry.

Conversely, the activists and the Human Rights Action (HRA) organization claim they entered the premises to document the improper disposal of animal carcasses and waste, which they allege poses a threat to public health and the environment. The activists reported that farm employees forcibly seized their mobile phones, which were only returned by police several hours later. HRA has raised concerns regarding the privacy and integrity of the activists' digital data during this period.

Following an investigation, the state prosecutor determined that the actions of Dragićević and Iković did not constitute a criminal offense prosecuted ex officio. However, the prosecutor noted that the company may pursue the matter through a private lawsuit. The activists have expressed support from various groups, including the Nikšić Society of Young Ecologists and the URA movement, who are calling for an investigation into the farm's environmental impact.
