Zeljko Kopic departs Dinamo Bucharest as club searches for new coach and UAE opportunity

Croatian coach Zeljko Kopic and Dinamo Bucharest announced an amicable split this summer after the team failed to qualify for the UEFA Conference League, losing the playoff to FCSB. Kopic posted an emotional farewell on Instagram, writing, “E greu să pui toate emoțiile în cuvinte” and thanking the club, staff and supporters.

Dinamo supporters reacted strongly on social media, demanding changes at the board level and calling for president Andrei Nicolescu’s resignation, with slogans such as “Ne așteaptă din nou Liga 2!” and “Așteptăm plecarea lui Nicolescu”.

The club confirmed the departure in an official statement and said it will look for a new head coach. Options include a foreign appointment or Romanian candidates such as former player‑coach Florin Bratu, ex‑international Adrian Mutu and former Dinamo captain Ioan Ovidiu Sabău.

Agent Anamaria Prodan is reportedly negotiating a contract for Kopic with Al Wahda in the United Arab Emirates, and the possibility that former Dinamo assistant Florentin Petre could join him there.
