Montenegrin DPS restarts initiative to dismiss Speaker Andrija Mandić

The Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) has announced it will once again launch an initiative to dismiss Andrija Mandić from his position as Speaker of the Parliament of Montenegro. Andrija Nikolić, the head of the DPS parliamentary club, stated that the party intends to persist with this effort despite expected opposition.

Nikolić expressed skepticism regarding the cooperation of the Democratic People's Party (DNP), led by Milan Knežević. He anticipates that DNP members will engage in obstruction to prevent the initiative from being processed, noting that a previous attempt on September 24 failed due to a lack of quorum when DNP members did not attend.

The DPS justifies the dismissal by claiming that Mandić’s political stances and actions have damaged the reputation of the Parliament and Montenegro’s international credibility. While the DPS expects obstruction from the DNP, Nikolić suggested that the ultimate decision rests with the parliamentary majority, urging them to choose between Mandić and the country’s European path.
