Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina plan new border crossing
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Montenegro has begun preparing project documentation for the construction of a new joint border crossing between Šćepan Polje and Hum. Located on the Plužine – Foča route, the project aims to improve border traffic and cooperation between Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
During a meeting of the joint Montenegrin-Bosnian-Herzegovinian commission in Podgorica, officials discussed the development of the Šćepan Polje – Paklice crossing. The construction will be coordinated with ongoing work on the bridge over the Tara River and necessary access roads. A contract has already been signed with a designer for the access roads, with a nine-month deadline for completing the project documentation.
The commission also addressed the future functioning of joint border crossings in the context of Montenegro’s European integration and Schengen border regulations. Discussions focused on enhancing inspection controls for goods to ensure more efficient border crossings.
