Montenegro advances major road infrastructure and bypass projects
Montenegro is advancing several major infrastructure projects aimed at improving regional connectivity and tourism. Preparatory works have commenced on the Budva bypass, specifically the Markovići – Lastva Grbaljska section. This phase of the project, valued at approximately 237.47 million euros, is being executed by a consortium led by Briv Construction. Prime Minister Milojko Spajić emphasized that the bypass is an investment rather than a cost, designed to relieve traffic congestion in Budva's center and improve quality of life. Monteput Director Milan Ljiljanić noted that the project includes significant engineering feats, such as four kilometers of tunnels and two kilometers of bridges, with a target completion timeframe of four years.
Simultaneously, work is progressing on the Veruša-Lopate road connection, an 11 million euro project. This road is intended to link the highway network with the Ljeve Rijeke region, reducing travel time between Podgorica and the area to under thirty minutes. Officials stated that the project will benefit nine local villages and enhance the region's tourism potential.
In Budva, the local parking service reported nearly one million vehicle entries since the beginning of the year, marking a successful summer season. The service has expanded its capacity to over 3,200 regulated parking spaces to manage increased seasonal demand.
