Serbian tourist bus crash in Montenegro kills 21‑year‑old woman, injures 16

A minibus carrying 17 Serbian tourists returning from a pilgrimage to the Ostrog monastery overturned near Lipci on the Kotor‑Nikšić road in Montenegro on Sunday at about 13:10. The vehicle struck a stone slope on the right side of the road; the driver, a 68‑year‑old man from Kotor, is suspected of fatigue and microsleep. One passenger, a 21‑year‑old woman, died despite immediate resuscitation. Sixteen others were injured, including a 10‑year‑old child who suffered severe cardio‑respiratory collapse and was transferred to the Clinical Center in Podgorica. Nine victims have serious injuries, five have minor injuries. Patients are being treated at the Special Hospital “Vaso Ćuković” in Risan (five in intensive care, seven in orthopaedics, two in neurosurgery) and at hospitals in Kotor and Podgorica. Police and the state prosecutor have opened an investigation into the causes of the crash.

The incident involved only a single vehicle; all passengers were Serbian citizens. Authorities have indicated that driver tiredness is the likely primary factor, and further forensic analysis is pending.
