Montenegro joins INTERPOL I‑CAN project to strengthen fight against ’Ndrangheta crime
Police officials from Montenegro’s Crime Fighting and Financial Intelligence sectors participated in a meeting organized by EU4LEM that presented INTERPOL’s I‑CAN (Interpol Cooperation Against ’Ndrangheta) initiative. The project seeks to boost police capacities to detect, disrupt and prosecute organized crime groups, especially the Italian ’Ndrangheta, through tighter cross‑border cooperation, secure data exchange, training and best‑practice sharing via INTERPOL’s communication systems.
Montenegro’s admission to the I‑CAN programme is intended to improve knowledge of criminal‑group structures, enhance information sharing and strengthen operational collaboration with other participating states, thereby increasing the effectiveness of coordinated investigations and joint operations against transnational mafia networks.
