Montenegro and Croatia intensify summer traffic police checks

In Montenegro, police mobile units called “presretači” have been deployed on major highways such as the Princess Ksenija motorway and routes linking Podgorica, Danilovgrad, Nikšić, Cetinje and Virpazar. The campaign, dubbed “Živi, ne žuri!”, includes two female officers driving patrol cars and has led to the arrest of 23 people, most for speeding, with additional fines and driving bans issued. A detailed schedule lists reinforced controls across the country’s regional safety centres, targeting speed, alcohol use and technical violations.

In Croatia, Zagreb police announced a two‑day operation on 7‑8 July aimed at motorcycles, mopeds, bicycles and personal transport. The action focuses on excessive speed, helmet use, licence validity, vehicle registration and technical safety, with noise‑level monitoring equipment also employed. Meanwhile, the Požega‑Slavonia police reported 80 traffic violations over a weekend, handing out fines and temporary driving bans for speeding, seat‑belt non‑use and alcohol‑related offenses.

Both countries are emphasizing preventive measures and stricter enforcement to improve road safety during the busy summer travel period.
