Montenegro Prime Minister Spaić reports strong EU support

Montenegrin Prime Minister Milojko Spaić stated that support from European parliamentarians for Montenegro's accession to the European Union is “stronger than ever.” Following meetings in Podgorica with the Parliamentary Committee for Stabilisation and Association (POSP), Spaić noted that representatives from the European Parliament and EU member state parliaments are prepared to support the ratification of the accession treaty within their respective countries.

Discussions between Montenegrin officials and the POSP focused on progress made over the last three years, specifically regarding the rule of law, environmental protection, and economic reforms. Spaić emphasized the importance of adopting the “European model” to meet standards and highlighted the challenge of retaining young populations, a common issue among nations that joined the EU in recent decades. The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction with the readiness of European lawmakers to act as advocates for Montenegro's integration process.
