Montenegro proposes Arbitration Commission for Podgorica and Tuzi border dispute
The Montenegrin Ministry of Public Administration has proposed the composition of an Arbitration Commission to handle the territorial delimitation and asset division between the capital city, Podgorica, and the municipality of Tuzi.
Anton Markić, a former judge and lawyer with extensive experience in civil and property law, has been proposed as the head of the Commission. The Ministry emphasized that his background in complex legal proceedings and property rights is essential given the legal complexity and long-standing nature of the dispute.
The proposed members include representatives from both municipalities: Podgorica Mayor Saša Mujović suggested Neven Gošović, Milan Paunović, and Vesna Brajović, while Tuzi Mayor Luan Gjokaj (referred to as Leon Đeljaj in some reports) proposed Nika Đeljošaja, Emina Hadžija, and Nermina Alibašića. Marija Mrvaljević has been proposed as the government representative.
Markić stated that the delimitation process could be completed during his mandate if both sides show goodwill. He noted that his approach would include asking residents which municipality they prefer to reside in to help resolve the matter.
