Podgorica and Tuzi border demarcation dispute
Overview
An arbitration commission has been established to address the long-standing border demarcation and property division dispute between the capital city, Podgorica, and the Municipality of Tuzi. The dispute, which has lacked regulated border lines for over seven years, involves several areas including Mount Korita and the Kuće Rakića settlement.
The formation of this body follows the failure of a previous commission in March and criticism from the Ministry of Public Administration regarding delays in the process. The Montenegrin Ministry of Public Administration has proposed Anton Markić, a former judge, to lead the commission.
Proposed members include representatives from both municipalities: Podgorica suggested Neven Gošović, Milan Paunović, and Vesna Brajović, while Tuzi proposed Nika Đeljošaja, Emina Hadžija, and Nermina Alibašića. Markić indicated that the process could be completed if both sides demonstrate goodwill, suggesting that residents may be asked which municipality they prefer to reside in to assist in the resolution.
