Montenegro pursues economic growth through international and regional cooperation

Montenegrin officials are pursuing enhanced international cooperation and regional economic integration. Tourism Minister Simonida Kordić attended the 2026 Confucius International Culture Festival in Shandong, China. During her visit, she met with Song Junji, Deputy Governor of Shandong Province, to discuss improving cooperation and exploring the possibility of establishing direct flight connections to Montenegro to boost tourism.

Kordić also emphasized the concept of ‘Bridging destinations’ to connect regional countries into a unified tourism offering for distant markets. She noted that Montenegro will host an Interregional Tourism Forum of Europe and Asia in October in collaboration with UN Tourism.

Separately, Deputy Prime Minister Nik Gjeloshaj participated in the Economic Conference Montenegro 2026. He highlighted the importance of the Berlin Process in creating a connected economic space in the Western Balkans. Gjeloshaj stressed the need to align Montenegro’s tourism and service sectors with suppliers and investments across the CEFTA region as the country aims for EU membership by 2028. The conference also featured a signing ceremony for the WB6 Industrial Parks Partnership, aimed at fostering regional industrial development and attracting investment.
