Montenegro roadworks cause major traffic suspensions
The Auto-moto savez Crne Gore (AMSCG) reports that while most roads in Montenegro are operating without emergency restrictions, several key routes are experiencing significant traffic disruptions due to ongoing construction and maintenance.
A major disruption is the total suspension of all vehicular and pedestrian traffic on the Đurđevića Tara bridge (M-6 highway, Pljevlja-Žabljak section) for reconstruction, effective until October 26, 2026. Drivers are advised to use alternative routes.
Other notable restrictions include:
• Berane–Rožaje highway: Total closures for tunnel scanning near the Lokve tunnel during specific daytime intervals. • Regional road R-29 (Bar–Kamenički most–Krute): Periodic closures for road reconstruction. • Regional road R-17 (Čevo–Riđani): Total closures for road adaptation. • Krakalice–Dubočica (Pljevlja section): Asphalt works causing closures between October 1 and October 15. • Sozina Tunnel: Alternating traffic regimes and potential short total closures during nighttime hours for regular maintenance.
Additionally, specific bans are in place for buses (categories M2 and M3) and campers on certain sections of the R-1 and R-25.1 roads, and weight restrictions apply to heavy vehicles on parts of the R-1 road near Kotor.
