Montenegro strengthens diplomatic and defense ties with Ukraine and UK

Montenegrin officials held high-level meetings with foreign diplomats to discuss bilateral relations, security, and regional stability.

Vice President Filip Ivanović received outgoing Ukrainian Ambassador Oleh Herasymenko. The discussions focused on Montenegro’s continued support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and independence within its internationally recognized borders. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in defense, economy, tourism, digital transformation, and justice, while noting the importance of Montenegro’s European path.

Separately, Defense Minister Dragan Krapović met with the newly appointed British Ambassador, Neris Jones. The meeting emphasized the importance of British support in enhancing the defense capabilities and interoperability of the Montenegrin Armed Forces. Discussions included modernization, military training, logistics, and cyber defense. The officials highlighted Montenegro’s role as a NATO member and its contributions to collective security through missions in Latvia and Bulgaria, aiming to maintain stability in the Western Balkans and Europe.
