Montenegro submits strategic infrastructure projects to the United States
Montenegro has formally initiated the implementation of its intergovernmental agreement with the United States by submitting two major strategic projects. The first is the Adriatic-Ionian corridor, a 2.8 billion euro infrastructure initiative designed to connect Albania and Croatia through Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina. This project encompasses road, energy, and digital infrastructure, including optical cables and gas pipelines.
The second project focuses on national security and trade, involving an integrated cargo scanning system and the modernization of border controls. These submissions represent a move to transform the strategic partnership with the U.S. into concrete economic and developmental cooperation.
In a separate diplomatic development, Montenegrin President Jakov Milatović met with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico in Bratislava. Fico expressed full support for Montenegro’s goal to become the 28th member of the European Union by 2028. The leaders discussed strengthening bilateral ties through increased investment in energy, transport, tourism, agriculture, and the IT sector.
