Monterrey Airport launches direct Iberia service to Madrid
The International Airport of Monterrey (MTY) began a new direct route to Madrid, operated by Iberia. The service, announced by OMA and its strategic partner VINCI Airports, will run three times a week (Tuesday, Friday, Saturday) on an Airbus A330‑200 with 288 seats, providing more than 50,000 seats in 2026. The route links Monterrey to Iberia’s extensive network of 145 owned destinations and 384 code‑share destinations, reinforcing the airport’s role as a logistics hub for northern Mexico.
The inauguration event in Terminal A featured Governor Samuel García, Nuevo León’s tourism secretary Maricarmen Martínez Villarreal, and senior Iberia and OMA officials. Officials highlighted the route’s expected boost to tourism, business travel and regional economic competitiveness, while Iberia cited the flight as a milestone in its 2030 flight plan to strengthen connections between Latin America and Europe.
