Monterrey gains new direct flights to Madrid and New York
Iberia began operating a Monterrey‑Madrid service on 2 June, offering three weekly A330‑200 flights (Tuesday, Friday, Saturday) with 288 seats each. The airline highlighted the route as a key element of its Plan 2030 expansion, aiming to increase frequencies and eventually provide daily service between Mexico’s northern hub and Europe.
Viva launched a direct Monterrey‑New York (JFK) route, operating five weekly flights (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday). The inaugural ceremony was attended by Nuevo León Governor Samuel García, who called the connection a strategic boost for business, tourism and regional competitiveness. The flight departs Monterrey at 06:10 local time, arriving in New York at 12:20, with return service leaving JFK at 01:30 and landing in Monterrey at 04:15. Both airlines emphasize the new routes as part of broader efforts to position Monterrey as a natural air‑hub linking Mexico with major international markets.
