Montevideo and Concordia launch youth climate action grant programs

The Intendencia of Montevideo launched a competitive youth climate fund on 15 July. Applications are open until 31 August and grants range from US$1,000 to US$5,000. Projects must align with Montevideo's Climate Action Plan and may address climate education, heat‑wave resilience, sustainable agriculture, waste management, green governance, data collection, green infrastructure, circular economy or sustainable transport. Selected proposals receive funding for equipment and implementation.

In Argentina, the city of Concordia, part of a global network of 300 cities supported by Bloomberg Philanthropies and Cities and Local Governments United, opened the "Jóvenes en Acción Climática 2026" call. The program offers non‑repayable subsidies of US$1,000‑5,000 for youth‑led initiatives in renewable energy, climate education, biodiversity, green infrastructure, waste management and circular economy. Eligible applicants are non‑profit entities with youth aged 15‑24 leading the project. The deadline is 4 August 2026, with winners announced 28 August and projects running from September 2026 to March 2027.
