Montez Sweat returns to Chicago Bears after PED suspension
Chicago Bears defensive end Montez Sweat has returned to practice following a two-game suspension for violating the NFL’s performance-enhancing substances policy. Sweat described the incident as an “accidental” and “surprise” occurrence, stating he did not intend to cheat the game and takes full responsibility for the mistake.
During his absence, the Bears won games against the Atlanta Falcons and the New England Patriots. Sweat is reportedly forfeiting approximately $2.3 million in salary for the two games missed and has voided remaining contract guarantees totaling about $12.7 million.
Sweat expressed regret over the impact on his teammates and the fanbase, noting that being separated from the locker room was “devastating.” He is expected to rejoin the lineup for Monday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks.
