Montilla-Moriles celebrates 71st Grape Harvest Festival

The 71st edition of the Montilla-Moriles Grape Harvest Festival (Fiesta de la Vendimia) is underway, featuring several key honors and cultural recognitions. Manuel Torralbo Rodríguez, Rector of the University of Córdoba, has been invested as the Capataz de Honor. During his speech, Torralbo expressed support for Montilla’s candidacy to become the Spanish City of Wine in 2027.

In addition to Torralbo, industrialist and enologist Miguel Herrador Repiso is being recognized as Capataz de Bodega. The ceremony, held at the Bodegas Pérez Barquero courtyard, also saw the designation of Natalia Marín Cabanillas and José Antonio Marín García as the Vendimiadores Mayores, accompanied by a traditional court of ladies.

The festival, which is declared of National Tourist Interest, maintains long-standing traditions, including specific ceremonial attire for the Vendimiadora Mayor inspired by 19th-century art.
